OfficeMetrics works by recording
information about a user's computer activity. This information is encrypted and
sent to servers operated by the OfficeMetrics team. The collected information is
used to generate secure online reports which describe various aspects of a user's
computer activity over time. Reports can be viewed by users via their web browser.
What's most amazing of all is that all this happens in real time! This means that
users and their managers have up to the second information on an individual's or
team's performance.
All information gathered is made available to users, their managers, IT and HR departments
through a series of simple, intuitive web based reports.
Users can compare their work performance to that of their peers, team, department
and company averages.
At a glance a manager can see the current activity and key performance metrics of
each team member.
Performance information can be integrated with a company's intranet homepage so
users see their own information and managers see their teams information every time
they open their web browser.

The chart below shows how much time different workers lose to non-work related activity.

20% <1 hour

Diligent employees are more willing to make the extra effort when they know that
their hard work and extra hours are noticed and appreciated

45% 1-2 hours

Employees that spend 1 to 2 hours on non work related activity can use the system
to quickly pinpoint any possible inefficiencies in their working day (Possibly excessive
personal email, web surfing, impunctuality or taking extended or excessive breaks
etc.)

35% > 2 hours

Employees that spend more than 2 hours engaged in non-work related activity per
day are often unaware of the extent of their time-wasting. When they can clearly
see how many hours they are losing and they know that their manager can see this
information also, they usually work hard to normalise their activity.

To date, computer and web monitoring applications have been designed for technical
IT system administrators. Technicians are tasked with trawling through huge secretive
logs and notifying management of every employee indiscreation they uncover.
OfficeMetrics is unique in that it gives all the collected information to those
best placed to use it - employees and their managers. In this way OfficeMetrics
empowers employees to regulate their own activity.
